Before and After: Mirror turned into Chalkboard

So I got this funky mirror from a work flea market. 25 cents! I decided after looking at the crazy stickers on it, that getting the mirror to look nice as a mirror was not going to work. I decided after looking at lots of cool DIY pins on pintrest, that I was going to make it into a chalkboard for our living room decor. I had leftover chalkboard spray paint from when I made chalkboard placemats for my nephews at thanksgiving, so all I had to buy was some white spray paint.
Here is the before and after.

And now for some of the process. I basically masked off the outside, sprayed the chalkboard paint. (I think I did either 3 or 4 coats of the chalkboard paint)

Then I masked off the inside and spray painted the outside white. (I sprayed 2 coats of white)

Then, because the edges were a little rough, I added some paper borders and some bling to dress it up.

Tada! I'm so happy how it turned out.

What do you guys think?
Who knows, maybe it will end up on Pintrest. hehe.

Holiday homemade

This year I wanted to try a few crafty things besides cards for the holidays. One of the projects is below. My mom LOVES tea, so I thought I'd take this idea I got off of Pintrest for a clothespin wreath. I filled it with tea bags and tada! She can also use it to display Christmas cards (that's what they did on Pintrest).
After doing the project I found out a few things.
A) Spray painting them green would of been SOOOO much easier than hand painting them all with acrylic paint.
B) Next time I need to use a thicker wire (like a coat hanger or something) because I used floral wire and it was so thin that the wreath kept flopping over. I tried to go back and double string it, but they kept getting hung up, so I did a back-way of doing the second stringing around by opening each clothespin and shoving the wire to the back of each.
C) You need probably somewhere like 40 clothespins to make a good sized wreath. Mine is a little small, but after I painted one whole bag of clothespins (24) I was so tired of the project, I just said to hell with it, its going to be small.

Wedding wonderland

So I decided to do a matching card and gift box for my friends Brooke and Denis for their wedding present. Since I didn't want to just give them a gift card inside a card, I found 2 mugs that were the same color as my box (teal) and rubbed on some letters to make a "BW" and "DW" (their new initials, plus a little heart on each). The box I actually got from work, where there was a press release of the Disney's wallpaper, so I took that wallpaper scrap that matched the box, and added it to the card. I tied the package all up with ribbon and matching bow and added a little sparkle addition to dress it up on the side.

So the first night at the crop I created this adorable Halloween banner (from scratch-no templates, no kits). The second day I created these cute little paper pumpkins, which the woman behind me had one on her table, and I just had to try my hand at making some.

Crop for a Cure: Cards and fun

So this post is all about the cards I made (3 gift card holders done at a Stampin Up! class and 3 cards I made on my own) and the fun photos of what happened that weekend. Hopefully later I'll get more photos from my mom, but here are some. Stay tuned for a post on the Halloween/Fall papercrafts I did and all the scrapbook pages I completed this past weekend.

I don't know what it is, but I always feel I get more done at crops then I do at home. Maybe because there is less distractions...who knows...but it was fun, and it was for a good cause!

Pink Paislee Warehouse Sale!

So recently was the Pink Paislee's yearly Warehouse box Sale, where you pay $49 (plus $10 shipping) and get well over $250 worth of product, you don't get to choose what items you get, so its a total surprise. My husband got me a box for a wedding anniversary present, so it technically was picked out by me, but also was a surprise too!
So I got the package yesterday, and it is AMAZING! It's too late to get it this year, but next year, you HAVE to get it. So worth it! So this is the flyer that is all about it.

Showtime is over

Our show has ended, so as I usually do, I created the cast cards to give to the director, producer, etc. So here they are. I finally had a little bit of time to create some cards, FINALLY. So enjoy!

no time at all

Ok. So I admit it, I am super busy. So busy in fact, that I barely have enough time to sit and write this. But my poor craft space has been sulking in the corner for a few months now, because I haven't had time to craft. With being in a show, to work, to all the madness of summer, to doing projects for friends' weddings and cooking up stuff for the Newtown Arts Company, I have had no time to craft.
However, somewhere in all of it, I have forced myself to make time to take at least one photo a day. I recently started a 365 days of photos project, inspired by Becky Oehlers. She invited fellow friends and crafties to join her in this year long project, so I accepted and already have cranked out 12 days of photos! By no means am I a fabulous photographer, but I hope to learn from the process, besides getting plenty of photos to scrapbook.

Long time no see

Yeah. Another lull in my blog. What is up with me? Well...been SUPER busy at my day-job and been trying my hardest to try out for a show and spend time with family and friends. Also took a brief vacation down to Florida. So all in all, that = very little time to craft. But have no fear, I have 2 cards on the way. (once I photograph them).
But in the meantime, I am hoping to resurrect my Frenzified Digi site, after it has long been sitting untouched for months. So, what Digi's would you like to see? Baby, Christmas, Halloween, Girly, Boy...you name. What would you like to see?

Life just gets in the way sometimes...

So I apologize...it has been almost a month since my last confession...wait..I mean blogging.
Life has just seemed to get in the way! With unpacking stuff from our move, to work, to practice and performances for "All Shook Up"...I just haven't had anytime to do any crafting, let alone sitting still. I was sick for over a week with a massive sinus infection- which I didn't do much of anything but lay in bed sleeping. Somewhere in all the madness I was able to create a few cards for the important people involved with the show. (these are a few weeks late of posting, but here they are!)
Since the show was 1950s themed, I used the cricut cartridge "Nifty Fifties". It's one of the first times I did cards with cricut cartridges. Now, right now, I'm mad at Cricut- all that mumbo jumbo junk with sueing people left and right and being super mean to every little guy in site. However when I made these cards, it was before I was informed of their evil corporation status. So I apologize in advance my Boycott Provocraft friends...this was before I knew all about that.
But I did do 2 cards without cricut cartridges, so I'll show those off first, followed by the cricut ones. The cricut ones turned out cute...I love the shoes! Anyways, enjoy my belated cards!

I have a 3 day weekend this Easter weekend (I get monday off), but that's because I work Tuesday-Saturday, so hopefully I'll get some cardmaking done (like my card club's cards!). Have a Happy Easter Everyone! Hugs!

Craft Retreat for Autism

So I spent a mini vacation with my mom this past weekend going on a Scrapbooking Retreat for Autism. It was quite fun, though now that I'm back to work, I long to be back crafting. I know it's been about a month since I last blogged, but to be honest, I haven't even done any crafting in a month (gasp!). With moving to a new home (which we are all moved, finally!) and participating in a musical production ("All Shook Up" with Newtown Arts Company), I haven't had much time to be online, let alone craft, sleep, relax, or any of that fun stuff.
Anyways, so here is some of the layouts I did over the weekend. I really cranked them out! I had lots of fun, and got to use the new Page Maps 2 sketches (my mom got the book when she went to CHA...I love Page Maps 1, so it was nice to try out new sketches). Sorry for my photo quality. I got lazy and took these with my camera phone at the crop. Anyways, Enjoy!

I felt so honored at the crop retreat. I had a woman ask if she could scrap lift my birthday double layout (first shown), and I also became the un-official "Photoshop" tutor once one of the ladies near me heard I was a graphic designer. lol
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed making them. Maybe someday I'll actually get my act together and post more or enter some stuff in publishing contests.

Sorry...been a little MIA lately. With work, my hubs truck not working (aka. Me having to take him to work), practice for "All Shook Up!" and packing for our move, things have been a little crazy. Also, Saturday was my b-day, so I had plenty to do. ;)

Adorable Owls

So this card I originally made for a pub. call challenge. It didn't get picked so I thought I show it to you now. I thought it was cute. Owls have become such a hit all over, so I just adored this owl stamp from Hampton Arts.

The Cupcake Parade

So here are the cards I made for my card club. February's theme is 'Birthday'...I got to choose the theme, and since February is my birthday month, I thought a birthday theme would be appropriate.
Anyways, I went with a slightly different card for each person, so here they all all! I decided to try out my newest stamp set I got from Xmas, Papertrey Ink's ticket stamp set. I decided to do the last one (which I kept for myself, for a belated birthday...since I got tired of stamping and cutting out all the tickets!...lol). Which one is your fav?

Embellish Color Challenge with Hearts #2

Papertrey Fav Roundup

For Papertrey Ink's anniversary, they are asking their customers to go through OUR Papertrey projects from the last year and choose our very favorite of the bunch. Hmm...I do adore so many of the projects I used Papertrey projects on. My absolute favorites are a toss up between the following two projects:

This Card for my friend after hosting a wonderful soup night party (I used a cricut cut apron to spice it up...btw, she LOVED it) :D

and this Treats Bucket for Halloween (given to my neighbors' kids for being good neighbors)

I've done so many projects with Papertrey Ink products over the past year. The above two are my top 2. Below are a few other fun projects I did over the year with Papertrey products. It isn't all of them, just some of the "better" ones. :D

Zoo animals for birthdays

Welcome to another edition of "Cards for Co-workers"...this card was for a co-worker's grandson, who turned 1 today. I got this great birthday paper from a secret sister swap, so I just had to use it. I decided to go with a general zoo animal theme, and I think it pretty much turned out cute. Kind of a simple card for my style, but I like it. I combined digital and non-digital, in order to make the sentiments personalized for the co-worker. Anyways, here it is!

So we've been having boat-loads of snow over here, so I haven't had much time to do much more than shove snow, work longer hours at work because of the snow making me late or I had to make up a day's worth of work. I hope once things get more settled down I can work on more papercrafting...I've been dying to make a Valentine's day card. Ooo..I can't wait till February!

Snowmen Saturday

I know, its been a VERY long time, like before Christmas time, long time since I've been on the blog-o here. I've started another blog: www.steppingwithsmiles.blogspot.com to track my long journey towards weight loss and better health. I finally got time today to work on a card for a friend and my Friday Night Card Club January cards (Snowmen/Snowflake theme).
The card for my friend, is a miss you/going away card for him, since he is moving to Alaska. He leaves on Monday, so I wanted to make him a wintery card. I went with this adorable penguin...but if you ask my husband, penguins are not in Alaska. (but I don't care...he was just too cute). Anyways, I spent a decent amount of time on this, since I wanted it to be a nice card- since we won't see him for a while.

And here is my Friday Night Card Club card. I had made these cute little tags earlier, then decided I wanted to use them for the cards- so I made a pocket card. Sadly however, I don't have enough snowflake paper, so I went with different background for each card.

Lots of snow around here too, as we have been having a snowstorms over and over around here.

Surprises and Jetplanes...

So today I bring you another edition of "cards for co-workers." This one to be honest turned out a lot better than I thought it would. I got this idea, and blam! It totally worked. The exterior of the card I still am on the fence with if I should add anything else to it, but the inside is totally perfect I think.

So the story behind this card is a co-worker of mine wants to surprise his wife with a trip to San Francisco for Christmas (I think its for Christmas, since he needs it by tomorrow). Anyways, since he hasn't booked the flight yet, and since they have to check when they want to go and yada yada, he wanted to give her a card that basically is like, "I'm taking you there, just tell me when." So I thought, hey, why not put fake mini airline tickets inside? I did a quick google search and came across this totally awesome site where you can create fake tickets with whatever airline you want, and type in the name, destination, time, date, and presto! I think it is a marvelous idea for telling someone you're taking them on a trip. Anyways, below is the inside of the card.

So I knew I had a travel chipboard set from My Little Yellow Bicycle, and sure enough, they worked nicely- the little USA and the airplane circle that says "fly" and the dotted circle on the inside are from them. I used two maroon pearls and some string to make like a "fly from here to there" kinda pin-dot thing. I think it turned out way cute.
So what do ya'll thing? I know the colors are not really Christmasy, but I wanted it to look more classy and to match the photo of San Francisco that my co-worker previously picked out to incorporate.

Anyways, Christmas is almost here! Any fun traditions out there for ya'll?
My hubs and I are gift wrapping at the local mall, with the donations going to the Bingo Foundation- an area cat shelter. We'll also be accompanied by a fellow co-worker and friend who got one of her cats from them. Gift wrapping at the mall for others on Christmas Eve has become a tradition for me around the holidays- it started with my mom and I back when I was in Girl Scouts, and I've tried to keep the tradition alive ever since. So fun!

S'mores and more

So I haven't done a whole lot of crafting recently, but I did however put together a white elephant gift- the theme I decided to go with is S'mores! I think its perfect for the holidays. :)
The box was originally a Clementine box (see below), I decorated and filled it with all the goodies to make S'mores: chocolate, marshmallows, graham crackers (which we got after I took this photo), Marshmallow roasters, and a cute little S'mores bag (that has an individual s'mores making set inside). I thought it turned out cute, simple but cute...better than a basket I think. :)

Anyways, other than that, I've basically just been in holiday party mode. Drinks and goodies for each. All the while slowly planning our Winter Wonderland New Year's eve bash. (this theme I find fitting, since a close friend of ours recently found out he got the job he interviewed for in Alaska, so he will be off to the cold lands come the end of January and our party with basically be one of the last get together he can make).

The man in Red...

...has come to town.
Ok, so I don't have any updated cards for ya'll, since I finished up my Christmas cards I haven't done much crafting recently, however I thought in the meantime, so I don't leave you all hanging totally, here is my hubs aka. St. Nick, with our kitty cat Wendy. He dressed up as Santa (and bleached his hair) for his work's annual big Holiday shin-dig. Crazy, I know, but this is my hubs we're talking about. A 25-year-old Santa. lol
Anyways, here's the hubs.

Also, here is our current mantel decor and hubs "decorating" the tree, aka. looking like he decorated it, though my mom and I did it the weekend of Thanksgiving. I'm not a very good home decorator (my art is best in digital or paper form), so I thought it wasn't horrible, considering I don't have much mula to make it look drop dead beautiful.

Anyways, until I get my act together and finish my card club's December "Anything But A Card" projects, these will have to do to get ya'll into the holiday spirit. haha

It's Christmastime again!

Placecards and Picture cards

So I've been slacking in the craft department lately. I know, life happens...but that is no excuse. Anyways, this year for Thanksgiving we are going to have my parents come to visit us, and since my in-laws can't make it down, its just the 4 of us for the big turkey day.
I decided to make new placecards using this adorable placecard set from Papertrey Ink (my mom got it for me as a early Thanksgiving present, along with some other equally nifty and cute Thanksgiving decor).
Anyways, here are the placecards. Once again, I apologize for the bad quality- still using the camera on my phone while I try to frankenstein my camera back to life. BLah!

Simple I know, and I tried to go all Kristina Werner on ya'll, but alas, my faux stitching looks just that. FAKE. I blame me not having a steady hand. Eh...they'll do.
I also started working on my November cards for my card club, which I have been struggling with. This month's theme is a christmas card with your picture and non-traditional Christmas colors.
Well here is my demo of the card (I plan to make the actual cards much more blue colors, but I thought I'd use up some scraps to test the design out with the plastic).
I think it will work, so I just gotta get the vellum or plastic and the photos developed and I"m set.
Anyways, I"ll post the final product later once I get all the proper stuff together, but imagine if you will that this card is lots of blues and snowflakes, and a lot cleaner lines. lol

And if you where wondering, yes that's me. That was taken during our "Snow-pocalypse" last winter. lol

It's Turkey Time

So I finally got around to photographing the rest of my scrapbook pages from the Crop for a Cure. Also, I worked on a few other things that I'll show later (including this year's Thanksgiving placecards for our table and my Friday Night Card Club November card). But, without further ado, here are some scrapbook pages. :D I apologize for the crappy photography. I still haven't figured out how to photograph scrapbook pages nicely, and these are taken on my iphone, while I try to get batteries for my camera and fix the battery door to the camera. (right now its busted so I have it taped up)

(Thanksgiving at our apartment for the first time last year. Here is my parents, my in-laws, my nephews and sister-in-law, and my hubs. That and the table setting...aka...me trying to go all Martha Stewart on Thanksgiving. lol)

Baby Showers and Mini Tins

Welcome to another edition of "Cards for Co-Workers". This week, I give you, a Baby shower card. Originally it was for an unknown whether or not it is a boy or girl. I then find out after I finished the card that she's having a girl, so luckily this yellow-rust colored card had hearts on it. :)

Another fun thing I give you is an altered tin I did for a secret sister swap. It is covered in some super fun Studio Calico paper that I first checked out at CHA. I think the tin turned out cute, simple but cute.

Halloween done, Here comes Thanksgiving

Ah Halloween...How I love thee, but sadly this year's Halloween was very tame. This year I cooked some various Halloween themed food and beverages. I will show you a few of the favorites: Caramel Apple Cupcakes and "Shrunken Head" apple cider. I think its funny the two items that turned out so well both had apples in them. haha

Anyways, my co-workers seemed to love the extra cupcakes I brought to the office, so I'll have to remember to make those again next year. :)
I did get some crafting done over the Halloween weekend, so once I photograph them, I'll put them up. So stay tuned.
I guess Thanksgiving is the next in line of Holidays, even though I think most places are skipping straight to Christmas. When I went to the pharmacy they were putting all the Xmas stuff up. lol

Rockets and Treats

Below is the treat bucket I put together for the boys upstairs. Since we don't have any kids of our own yet and our nephews are too young to appreciate or have the treats, I decided to make a little goodie bucket for the two boys who live upstairs from us. I did treat bags for them last year, so this year I decided to do a bucket. I got this bucket on sale for $1.50 at ACMoore, since it had a minor dent in the plastic. I covered it right up and tada!

Here's another card for a co-worker. This one is for a 5-year-old boy's birthday. Originally I was planning on doing a airplane or train card, but I came across this paper I got that had rockets and I knew just what I wanted to do. I had these little monster popups that I just have been dying to use. I hoped it worked as an alien-look-alike. Close enough, don't you think?

Anyways, have a great week! I'm off go figure out my Halloween costume with the hubs. If you've ever seen "Dexter" then our couple costume will be perfect! hehe

They are not the best quality, ok...they are stinky quality, but hey...you take what you can get. So here are some cards I made for co-workers. Besides making cards for my co-workers, I've been busy with my new adorable kitty cat, Wendy. Since my beloved C.J. passed away, the hubs and I couldn't deal without having a little furry something in the house, so we got Wendy on our wedding anniversary Aug. 23rd. She's a little handful at times, but yet so adorably cute! Don't you think?

Cropping for the Cure!

Sorry I never got around to posting anything for World Cardmaking day...it was a very busy day at Crop-for-the-cure and I didn't have a chance to photograph anything till I got home. My camera died, so I only have photographed half the stuff I did, so I apologize for the quality of the photos (took a bunch on my mom's camera, which I don't know how to use very well).
So I got a lot done at the Crop-for-a-cure...a lot of scrapbook pages, some cards, some altered items...lots of fun stuff. Then the day I got back to work on Tuesday I had some card orders for a co-worker, so I'll post those later as well.

Weekend fun

Yes, I know I'm not posting any new photos of cards or crafty projects, but I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on where I'll be spending my time this weekend.

So my mom is coming from Michigan to join me in the Crop-for-a-Cure this weekend in Reading, PA. I have been wanting to do something like this for ages, so I'm so happy to finally get to do this. So believe me, I have loads to work on, so I will have PLENTY of stuff to show ya'll when I get back.

Secondly, I wanted to remind everyone that World Cardmaking Day is on Saturday. This Oct. 2, what are you all doing for World Cardmaking day? I know where I'll be, Crop-for-a-cure!

Setting the stage

Sorry I've been MIA recently...I know I know, I say that a lot, but I have been busy busy busy with work and the show I was in. Last night was our final performance, so I finally have some free time to hop in and fill everyone in.
I was in an original musical, written by a local music writer, called "Week Between the Holidays" and it was part of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. We had sold out shows for all 3 shows, and the two evening performances were so packed that they sold "standing room" tickets towards the end. lol. Besides the fact that I got sick (stuffy/runny nose and blocked ears, but luckily I never lost my voice) from Thursday all the way through all the shows, they went well. There will be a soundtrack recorded here soon with the original cast (hopefully I'll be well by the time that happens) that anyone can purchase. More information will be at the website soon, www.philadelphiaperformanceproject.com
Anyways, here's a few pictures for the road to hold you over and giggle over. I ended up going through basically my entire card stash of cards I've made to give to the cast and crew, so I think I need to get started on making more cards to replenish it! haha

Fun in the Fall

So I LOVEEEEEE the fall time. I love when the leaves change color, the temperature becomes a little cooler, and everything about fall makes me so happy. I love pumpkin spice everything (frappicinos, hot chocolate, candle scents, etc.) and everyone prepping for Halloween (which is my most favorite holiday besides Christmas). So here are some of my first fall cards for the season. One is a Thanksgiving card, but I just loved this stamp and the felt leaf I just had to use them together. The other card was my first try at my Friday Night Card Club's Sept. card (which I showed ya'll the post before), but I realized it would take way too long to do 10 of them and it wasn't totally fall (just fall colors). Enjoy!

Pumpkin Party

So here is the card I made for my Sept. Card club card. Theme was: Fall/Halloween card that has orange on it, and some sort of food.

Pumpkin is food for many, so I thought this would work. I decided I wanted to try a very low amount of layers and use some kraft stock for a more autumn look. I also added some faux stitching and white gel pen accents to it, a la. KWerner style. hehe
I think they turned out cute.

Falling deeper in love

Ok. So I know I should of posted this last week, but I've been uber busy this past week. So August 23rd was my 2nd wedding anniversary and 6 years together anniversary with my hubby. We did the low-key celebration this year. Since 2-years anniversary is supposed to be Cotton and China, we did the following: A shirt and pj for each of us, I got the hubs a "china" aka. glass (since we don't do china really) shot glass set and the hubs took me out for Chinese food (it was a classy chinese food place though). It was a simple night, but always reminds me that the simple things in like make me love life and my hubs. Here is the card I made for him. I used a little skunky, since at our wedding, we were the "two skunks in love" table theme. hehe

Airplanes in August

So I finally had a chance to work on my Friday Night Card Club cards. This month's theme was "guy cards." So this is what I came up with. I really wanted to use my BBQ stamps, but realized quickly I didn't have any papers that worked with that, so I decided to go with the below idea. I also wanted to try a different fold than what I usually do, so I went with this window/shutter door type fold. I just love this stamp set from Papertrey Ink. So cute! Enjoy!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. I just saw "Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World" yesterday, which I thought was wonderfully funny and a perfect start to my weekend. It is perfect for the gamer in me and I just couldn't stop laughing. :)

Back from CHA...and fighting off a cold

Ok. So I got back from CHA all safe and sound....however...about 2 days after getting home from my trip...I started to get sick with a summer cold...I'm still fighting it off today, coughing and hacking like no other, hence why it took me so long to get on here and post anything. But at least I did have some great memories, which I will show ya'll now! (I apologize for the crappy photo quality....my camera kept dying, so I used my phone's camera. )

All in all it was a fun trip! And I got these nifty sunglasses from Cricut Imagine. Too bad I didn't win one of the machines for wearing the sunglasses around CHA. lol. Darn!

I had a grand time at CHA, then traveling to see my Aunt, Uncle, and Cousin north of Chicago for a little over a day, then trekking over to see my Grandmother, Aunt, Uncle, Cousins on the other side of Illinois, near the St. Louis border...and then trekking over to my Mom's home for an evening before hopping on a plane back home. I know...busy week it was! But I did get a pleasant surprise from my mom for an early Xmas present...a Photocentric Stamp Maker Machine! Thank you so much, my dearest mom! It won't get to me till the end of the month, but this was the ONE and ONLY item at CHA that I was so freaking excited to get my hands on, above everything else. I can't wait to try it out, and turn all of the Frenzified digis into acrylic clear stamps! Woo! If any of you would like any, I plan on doing a "test round" so let me know what design/digi you are interested in the most as a stamp! :)
On to other things... I am still busy working on my card club's August "manly" themed cards...I'm just struggling and am stuck, but eventually I'll have to get going on them.

CHA bound

So tomorrow morning I hop on a train en-route to Chicago, to head out to CHA! Now you might be wondering, why I'm going so early...well, I am actually going to the trade show CHA first! I am accompanying my mom, who has been a member of CHA for about 25 years, and was just featured in the CHA magazine...so make sure you check out the article on my mom, Roxie!

I am going specifically to get some great contacts for my digital art store, Frenzified, and to help get some contacts for my mom's business, Geiser-Weaver Assoc., LLC. The supershow at CHA July 30-31 I will not make however, because we decided to go visit family outside Chicago then, so I may or may not see some of ya'lls faces while out there...lol
Anyways, I hop on a train at 10am tomorrow (though I still have to work a night shift at my full-time job tonight...it's gonna be a long couple of days!). So, if you don't hear from me this week, its because I'm at CHA!
Hopefully I can post some pictures afterwards or during for all those who can't come.

July Ketchup....

So...I'm chilling around the house...since I have a 3-day weekend before I work 5 days, then traveling off to Chicago to CHA. I actually did the following 2 cards last weekend...but I was too busy to photograph them till today. It's been a crazy month...with practice for the show I'm in, work filled with big projects, me feverishly trying to get a new set made for Frenzified before CHA hits...and of course planning what to bring and do at CHA. So is any of my readers going to be at CHA also? I'm just wondering if I'd run into anyone out there. :)

Later in the trip out to Chicago, we have planned some stops (my mom and I) out to my Aunt, Uncle, and Cousin's house for a day and a half, then treking over to my Grandmother's house for another day and a half. It is gonna be a busy week, but I am looking forward to it all. :)

Ok, enough chit chat, you all came here to see some cards...and I've been slacking in that department lately. I apologize my readers. You probably were wondering where they heck I've wandered to. So without further ado, here is a birthday card and a get well card I made. I sat down last week and said to myself..."I don't want to make a card that is for anything or anyone in particular. I just want to create." And here we are. I used this green ribbon in my get well card first, then had it sitting out and decided it fit nicely with my birthday card. Enjoy!

The get well card's bandage and saying are from a cheap-o $1 woodblock stamp I got at ACMoore a while ago, and I REALLY wanted to make a card using it, I just never had the time to make it, since I didn't have a need to use it just yet. I think it's so adorable!

The birthday card is using the adorable "Fly Away" airplane set from Papertrey Ink, designed by the talented Becky Oehlers...who lives not that far from me I found out, so I thought I'd support the local gal! I made my own clouds...so I apologize if they look funky. hehe

I hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday. I hope to get some stuff done today and tomorrow for Frenzified, so I can have my new "Fall Forever" set ready before I head to CHA. I know, I know...you're probably thinking..."Fall! It's not even August yet!?" but alas...I know a lot of you like to work early, so I thought I'd crank it out, along with a Halloween set (which I hope to also have done, but if now, it will be ready shortly afterwards) so you can have a leg up on that season. I will leave you with this adorable little acorn I made for the Fall set. Happy 4th of July!

So I know this is a little late, since 4th of July is today, but here is a card I made for the 4th! I have been scooping up the 50cents or $1 stamps around the area craft stores, since I had a total of 1 set for 4th of July. There has been some really awesome sets put out by Studio G, that are adorable!
Anyways, here is a card I made for the 4th and below that is a card I made for my card club for July. This month's theme for them is Red, White, & Blue and Sparkles. Since I knew I wouldn't be able to get the cards to them all by the 4th (I finished them up this Friday) I decided to go with a little sailboat theme.

Altered fun

Happy Friday!
So, I have been participating in a swap over the past year or so (3 rounds I believe), that we basically send a package to a secret sister for 3 months (so three packages in 3 months for each "round" of the swap). Among the items you send, you have to have 1 altered item in each package. I had not done a whole lot of altering, so this was a fun idea to try. I had a blast creating some fun items for this swap over the past year or so (with various SS's to send to). I've been holding on to these pictures, since you can't reveal yourself till the end of the 3 months (and I've done the swap for about a year now). So I thought, since the swap has taken a break, I'd post all my altered items I've made. :) Enjoy!

(sometimes I photographed all the items in the package, others I just photographed the altered item only. The last two pictures were posted by the SS after she recieved them, since I forgot to photograph those. hehe)

White on White fun

'Tis the season for weddings, anniversaries, babies, etc. So this month's theme for my Friday Night Card club was perfect: White on White. I was a little intimidated by the theme, since I'm all about color. I did the one idea first (the star one) but quickly realized it would take a lot longer to do 11 of them than my other idea, so I ended up going with the one below (the "I love you so much" one) as the card I made for the card club. I probably will hold on to the starry one for either a wedding I need to go to, or maybe a wedding anniversary (mine or my parents), something like that. :)

(I've come to the conclusion that photographing embossed items is very difficult! I hope you can all see this. I clear embossed the sentiment "I love you so much" by Papertrey Ink, I also clear embossed some swirls on the background. I also did a dry embossing folder on the brackets with my Big Shot. First to cut out the bracket (the die from Stampin' Up!, and then the embossing folder). It was a process, but still was a lot quicker to make than the other card shown below)

(This one took a while with the stars embossed, hence why I ended up not making this version for the card club. Also hand cutting out the brackets was time-consuming. I went all out embossing for this, background, sentiment, even the sparkle is silver sparkle emboss...lol)

Happy Father's Day (a little late)

Ok. I apologize my followers out there...it has been one of those times my life that things are just so crazy, and therefore I have been WAY behind on posting! You see, my poor kitty cat, C.J. had to go to the animal hospital this past week, due to a major issue with his diabetes which made him basically not be able to move his arms or legs. He had too much insulin I guess (his body has adjusted to the amount he was getting, and no longer needed as much as what our Vet told us to give him). It was a scary end of the week, and luckily he is better now and all is good. My hubs is in his second weekend of shows for "The Fantasticks" while I just started last week with practices for the show I'm in "The Week Between the Holidays" that will be part of the Philly Fringe Festival. Anyways, among all the drama, lack of sleep and madness, this weekend I finally had time to do some cardmaking. Thank Heavens! So I went to town and did a lot. I finished up 11 cards for my Friday Night Card Club (theme was White on White cards) and did an extra white on white card, while I was trying to figure out what layout I wanted to do. (I'll show those cards to you later). I also finished up my Father's Day cards. Ok, so I know it is Father's Day TODAY, but with all the cat stress, I didn't have much time. So I sent out virtual online cards as a temporary card, till these cards get to them later. So, without further ado, I show you my Father's Day cards! Enjoy!

(This "Western" style card I made for my Stepdad. I found this pre-stamped image I got from a swap, and I just knew I had to use it. I think it turned out cute. On the inside it says "Happy Father's Day". Stepdads are always hard to make cards for).

(this card I made for my Hubby's grandfather. I was going for the "outdoorsy" look. I like how the acorns turned out.)

(This card I made two of actually. One for my dad and one for my hubby's dad.

I think it is simplistic but very "dad" like, you think?)

Babies popping up everywhere!

So besides wedding cards, I have been having many orders for baby cards. Here is one I made for a co-worker who wanted a card to give to her cousin, who just announced to the family that she was pregnant with her first baby. This card had to be a generalized type color, since it is too early to tell if it is a boy or girl. I think this turned out cute. What do you think?

button is from the Papertrey Inks "baby button bits" set.

More wedding-type cards and May card club card

Ok. It must be the season or something. I feel all I'm doing recently is wedding cards, bridal shower cards, or baby cards. haha Anyways, I've been busy doing personal card orders for co-workers and finally completed my May "Friday Night Card Club" cards.
I've also been busy auditioning for a local theater show "Week Between the Holidays" which I just found out today I got cast as the character I wanted-Mary Catherine. This original musical, is written by a local music/play writer and is being performed as part of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. Feel free to check out their website: www.philadelphiaperformanceproject.com . I just so happen to have designed their website, so I guess that's how I knew about it. :) I'll be starting up on that here shortly, so hopefully I'm able to get some crafting done in between.
I also found out today that tomorrow I DO NOT have to go to jury duty. Our awesome county has a website that you can check to see if you are needed for you jury summons, so I checked it today, and they said I am not needed! Hooray! Today's been a great day!
Ok, enough babble, on to the cards! Below is an Engagement congrats-type card, a Bachelorette party card, and a wedding card. Also below is my Friday Night Card Club card for May- "island/beachy themed." Enjoy!

This card turned out cute I think. I am happy the co-worker I was making it for told me

that the person they were giving it to plans on having silver, white and black

as their wedding colors. Perfect!

I just couldn't resist. I've had this little stamp set for a while now,

but I thought it would be appropriate for a Bacholerette party card. lol

This wedding card turned out adorable I believe. The bride-to-be is obsessed with owls,

so I took a Recollections popup owl set and altered them to be

a little bride and groom owl. I love it, don't you!?

And this is my May card club card. My "island" theme is flip flops.

The second it gets warm enough for me to be wearing flip flops,

you can't take them off my feet till it gets cold again. haha.

It isn't my most favorite of cards, but I like how the paper

pieced umbrella and matching flip flops turned out. I also had to do two versions,

since I ran out of the same paper. So I did a pink and a blue version of the cards.

Stay tuned for some baby shower/congrats on the baby-type cards. I'm finishing up a baby shower card tonight, so I'll wait to post the other baby card I did over the weekend for when I can post that card.

Wedding Bells everywhere

Sorry I have been MIA recently. I have been super busy at work, was sick as a dog all last week and have been swamped with my website projects on the side. I know that's not really a good excuse, but when you can barely keep food down, you can't make cards well.
Sadly my cardmaking has taken a backseat in life. But this past weekend I was able to cook up 2 cards, since they were requested from my co-workers. One co-worker wanted a wedding card and the other needed a wedding shower card (with a bach. party and wedding card later on needed made). So here is some of my cards for co-workers....that should be a tagline "Cards for Co-workers"...lol

It's been crazy, but I hope to get back into a calmer time, but I have a feeling the summer is going to be super busy busy!

Purses for Mothers Day & Blog Candy Giveaway

So I was stumped with what to do for my Mother's day cards this year. I came to the conclusion that I really don't have a lot of Mother's day stamps, let alone anything that says 'Mother' or 'mom' on it. A secret sister swap I did a few months ago gave me these adorable K&Company purse popup embellishments, and I thought. Hey, why don't I make purse cards! So I used the only real Mother's day type stamp set I have have with it. I created the sketch for these cards, and decided to use the same sketch and layout idea for all of the cards, just with different colors and papers, to match each of the purses. I started with the square card, then remembered I didn't have many square envelopes left, so went to the standard card size. Anyways, These are all the cards I made. (scroll to the bottom of the post for Blog Candy info)

Now on to the individual cards for their own spotlight each. I guess I'm putting them in order of which ones I like. haha. The square one is for my Mom, then the rest are for Grandmothers.

My mother-in-law will get a different card, because I don't want to give her one with a pin sticking in it, since she is blind and I'm afraid she's prick herself. Here's her card. It's all fuzzy-wuzzy.

One Layer Card challenge

Ok. So I am big fan of KWerner's Design blog. And on her blog-o she is having a One-layer card challenge. So on Friday I finally got some time to do some cardmaking and I gave it a shot. I managed to finally get some kraft stock to play with, so I decided to use a stamp set I had gotten on sale after the holidays for it. I don't know if adding ribbon and a button doesn't officially make this a one-layer card, but I just had to...it was calling for it. So if it works officially for the challenge great, if not...well I tried. 1 layered cards a realllyyyyy tough! Anyways enjoy!

Ok, so it is 1:52am here, and I am happy to announce without futher ado...Cutie Critters 1, is now available in the Frenzified store! So hop on over there, check out the new images and sentiments, and let me know what you think (or just buy what you love!)...both work for me. hehe
This new theme set is special, since it is the first time that you will get a .pdf file and a .jpg file of each image or sentiment. Basically you purchase a .zip file, then when you download it, then unzip the file, you have both a .jpg and .pdf file of our purchase! In previous sets, I have gotten many people asking about a .jpg format also, so I hit two birds with one stone, by making it available for everyone!
Below is one of my favs. The kitty cat image. Also shown is the matching sentiment set for the kitty cat image that is available for purchase over at Frenzified. :)

Another big change with this theme set, is in each sentiment set there are circular sentiments! Each circular sentiment also has a cute little icon that you can use to either put inside the circular sentiment, or just use to match your image and sentiment (such as the fish bone icon to go with the Kitty Cat sentiment)! So many possibilities!

Bunnies and flowers

So this Easter hasn't been extremely eventful, but that's ok. I like just relaxing. We are prepping to dye some eggs and already ate some chocolate and jelly beans. Our original plans of Easter dinner kinda fell through, so we're going to try and find a place to eat later.

Another thing I got done and ready was my new paper rack my Mom got me for my Birthday. It's been sitting in my craft room waiting to be put up, and I finally took the time to organize my paper into it. I have the solid paper by color and the designer paper by month/theme.

Cropping time!

I finally got around to showing you all my scrapbook pages I did last Friday at a crop. I am in LOVE with the new BoBunny beachy paper. So cute and works great with all the summer pictures I am just now getting around to scrapbooking. Hope you all like them. :)

(On our One Year Wedding anniversary we went to the shore.

Sadly however there was a storm brewing for most of the trip, hence all the wind!)

(Also on our wedding anniversary getaway, we went to my favorite restaurant on the boardwalk.

We went there on our honeymoon, so I just had to go back.)

(My kitty cat loves to sit in the windows and sunbathing. I saw an adorable layout in the most recent Scrapbook, etc. magazine that had the "bite marks" out of the paper with a doggie picture. I just had to try it with my kitty picture!)

Weekend Cropping

So this past Friday I went to a crop with my mom at one of the closest Local Scrapbook stores (which actually is 45 minutes away) Scraptacular. In that 6 hour crop I completed 3 single scrapbook layouts, 2 cards and one altered item for a secret sister swap I am in coming up. So here are the two cards. I'll show you the scrapbook pages later. :)

(I used the most adorable Cricut cartridge (kitchen...) borrowed form my mom to make this cute apron. I love how it turned out. Pair that up with the sentiment stamp from Papertrey Ink, makes a happy card!)

(And this card was made completely from a card kit that my mom got in a swap (not sure which) but gave to me because I thought it was adorable colors.)

Springing Forward

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!
Here is the card I made for all the ladies in my Friday Night Card Club for our March cards. This "technique" card also had to use green, and I thought...hmmm...I want to make a springy card! My technique was all about the embossing. I took a woodgrain stamp and repeated it on the pink cardstock. Sadly the woodgrain was just slightly too small for the paper, so I ended up lining it up to end in the center, so when I put the designer paper across the center, it looks like it keeps going. hehe...gotta love tricks of a crafter!
Anyways, I think they turned out cute. I used a sentiment from Papertrey Inks and paper from a pack of paper that I purchased with a gift certificate I got for my birthday to Scrapbook Gifts (I can't remember who the paper is by for the life of me though). The ribbon is also from Papertrey Inks. The only downfall to these cards is I made them a little chubby, so when I took them to the post office, my postal guy charged me more than I expected on them.

(PTI buttons, ribbon and sentiment. I thought the embossing turned out nice)

(So I'm not a huge fan of various colored inks, but I thought black or brown was too dark for this card)

(Here is all the cards I made for the whole crew of ladies in the Friday Night Card Club. Two of the cards the panel went the other way...Since they were my first ones I embossed and wasn't sure which direction I wanted to go with the panel of paper.)

Today is another day in my stay-cation and my mom has come to visit since Saturday night. As I type, she's sewing a slip cover for my couch. As a belated birthday present to me, my mom is helping me re-do our living room by sewing slip covers for the couches and pillows, and getting new curtains, among other various things. So far the room is coming along very good...its down to the couch slip covers to finish and the mantel wall- which we're waiting on the wall decal we found online to go on it. So far I think it is looking sooooo much better. :)
Yesterday my mom and I went and walked a 5k+ in New Hope, PA. I hope it helps me to get back on the horse with exercise, since later yesterday night I also went to my adult ballet class. Anyways, I wanted to show you all the adorable duckies that were by the canal where we walked past. Aren't they cute!? I'm gonna have to get this picture fixed up and put in a frame in my bathroom- which is all ducky themed. hehe

Is everyone doing some celebrating for St. Patrick's Day? I know we plan to go downtown to celebrate, but other than that, not much else. But then again, today's holiday is all about the celebrating and drinks, right? hehe. Don't forget your green today!

Thinking of You- Sympathy

Since I am really tired today, I'll be quick about this post. This card was a request from a co-worker who was complaining that there was "no good sympathy cards at Wal-mart. None that left any room for (him) to write anything that he wanted to say, and all had cheesy or really long sayings." Basically his friend's mother just died and he wanted something basically to just be a little "thinking of you" type card. I overheard his rant and popped in, "Hey, you know I make personalized cards, I can make you one!" I then directed him to my blogo, and he was sold on the idea. So here is what I came up with. Enjoy.

(here's the front of the card. I used a new Nestibilities I got from my mom for Xmas)

(He wanted the inside blank so he could write his own message, so I dressed it up at the top, but left the bottom blank)

Sympathy cards are always tough for me, since I don't want them to be too frilly, bright, or modern (which to have none of those is reallllllyyyyy tough for me), so this is what I did. I tried to keep it elegant and soothing. Not my absolute masterpiece of cards, but it works.

Friend Birthday cards

Card demos for Frenzifed and life update

So things have been all over the place these days. Yesterday was my birthday. I turned 24. It wasn't the most eventful birthday- thank you snow storm, but I did get ice cream cake. We haven't cut into it yet, since a couple of friends are coming over tonight, so its always better to have cake with others, rather than just me and the hubs.

I had to work on my birthday, so during the day it wasn't so whoopie. The Hubs got me some beautiful flowers in the morning- 2 roses (one for my birthday, and one for V-day because this past V-day the flower lady down the street was out of roses) and then 5 white carnations, one for each year we've been together. (4 years dating, and over a 1 year married). When I got home from work we went to eat at KC Alley's, one of the good local restaurants around here. It was Martini Madness night, so after dinner and martini's, I was tired and fell asleep like turning off a light. I guess I haven't had a martini in a while, so it made me sleepy.

We also found out last weekend out beloved kitty cat C.J. has diabetes, so we have started to have to give him insulin shots every 12 hrs. He's a trouper about it, though I think he's realized it always makes me nervous so he is milking everything...lots of "pet me" looks and meows. Once you get the hang of the whole shot thing, it isn't too bad, considering the amount of insulin we give him is less than the size of a pencil eraser. lol

I also cooked up some card demos for my Frenzified site. I wanted to make a card from each set, just so you can see all of them in use. I think I like my biker chick card the best. I already know who I'm gonna give it to- a good friend of mine who loves her Harley. :) Anyways, here's the cards demos for Frenzified. Anyways, I'm off to go figure out what all is happening with our evening plans.

Birthday Bakes set released!

So over at Frenzified, I am premiering the "Birthday Bakes" theme set. It's filled with cupcakes, candles, and birthday sentiments. For all you digital hybrid papercrafters/cardmakers/scrapbookers, be sure to check it out! I am proud of this set. I had the idea to have number candles that you can change to personalize your birthday papercrafting project to the age of the birthday person. I think they turned out cute. I have to admit I do adore how the cupcakes turned out.
I hope to churn out some demos using the new Birthday Bakes set later this weekend or into next week depending on time constraints. It's been a super busy week here.
My goal was to get this set ready for release before my own birthday (next Friday the 26th), and I am so happy I was able to. Even though it took me a while, since our internet connection has been super SLOW today, I got the store fully stocked, new poll up, and even an animated blinkie I made.

V-Day eve cards for you!

So I sometimes get inspired by fellow cardmakers/papercrafters and decide to go off of an idea they had and make my own version of that so-called Theme. So here are two Valentine's Day cards in the theme of that similar to a card KWerner made here.
I loved how she took a somewhat simple approach but dressed it up with lots of embellishments. I loved making this first card so much, I decided to make another card, similar but not the same.

(The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink, the button flowers are from Sassafras Lass, and the stamped squares are an adorable stamp set from Studio G that I just got for 50 cents!)

(I used clear embossing on the squares)

So I'll be brief, since I am kinda in a hurry today. Here are the two scrapbook pages I made recently. I made one double layout and one single layout. I admit it, they are not the absolute best layouts I've done, but beggers can't be choosers now. haha

(This is a layout of photos of the family during a visit by my parents. We went out for breakfast at a local place down the street from where we live now)

(This is a double layout for a show my Hubs and I did. "Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat." We didn't have a whole lot of photos from this show, so I happened to use most of them in this layout)

(Since the show's title is so long, I wrote in part of it by the & symbol. That's me and my Hubs dressed as Egyptians. hehe)
