Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket Raccoon Toddler Costume

Since I'm getting kiddo's costume all spruced up for Comic Con this year, I realized I forgot to post his Rocket Halloween costume from this past year!
This past year for Halloween (and now for Comic Con) I made my son a Rocket Raccoon costume. I was Gamora along with him (and my husband Starlord)- but I'll post shots of those costumes once we have them fixed up for Comic Con, since we rushed our costumes for Halloween. (I spent most of my time making kiddo's costume).

He LOVED wearing the jumpsuit and adored the fur, that he wouldn't let me take off the jumpsuit when I was cutting the fur and patches for the knees.

Here's some of the rest of the costume DIY:

I found these cheap slippers from Wish. I painted them with acrylics (which honestly isn't the greatest idea- so I tried to brush them constantly to make sure the paint didn't get too hard).

The ears- I tried to take a gray raccoon ears, and the paint just looked like bleh, so I ended up gluing some of the leftover fur and bulked up the ears. I actually really like how the turned out.

The ears also came with the raccoon tail, but since Rocket is brown, I painted the stripes.

Like the slippers, I had to brush the painted spots so it wouldn't get so chunky/stiff.

The jumpsuit I got is actually a snow suit I got at Goodwill.

His backpack thing (from Guardians V2) is actually a summer water gun tag vest, which I covered with faux leather straps, and middle part- the blue part is actually part of a kids snack/sippy cup cut in half and hot glued. (the vest I got at 5 Below).

His mega gun is a water gun I painted. I know it isn't exact, but it still looks giant when my son holds it. lol.

(the full outfit- I added the patches on the knees- with the faux leather and hot glue).

We put a long sleeve brown shirt and a blue tank overtop to complete the outfit.

(My son insisted I wear the ears after I finished them.)

He wore the costume to both a Halloween Party and trick or Treating (his face makeup was much better for Trick or Treating). He was so tuckered out Halloween, that he actually fell asleep in his costume before we could go trick or treating, so we let him nap for a hair before waking him up to go trick or treating (which is probably why many of his photos he is cranky looking- woke up from a nap too early both times wearing it. figures).

I attached his tail to his utility belt (which I actually made for his Cric costume last year, but it actually worked for this costume too!)

This is the Volume 2 Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket Raccoon, which sadly doesn't have nearly as much to go from, hence why I ended up making mine (most of the Rocket costumes were either too small or were ment for big kids). I hope if you decide to make a Rocket for your kiddo (or yourself) you don't have as much fur floating around the house as we did. haha.

Do you like Guardians of the Galaxy? Who's your fav. character?

Monster Halloween Rice Krispie Treats

So for our friends' Halloween party I took a stab at making Monster Halloween Rice Krispie Treats.

I  got inspired by by various people online's version.
*edited- here is one version more recently, that is close to the one I followed, which sadly I can't track it down- Lil' Luna's treats here: https://lilluna.com/monster-rice-krispies-treats/

I'll spare you from the recipe- as I just used the one at Lil' Luna's above. But I wanted to share it with you all to show you how EASY it was.

Make your Rice Krispie Treats (colored if you want colors), dip in colored chocolate, add candy eyes- all done!
So Easy!

They were a big hit at the party too.

I also made a few non-chocolate ones for those who couldn't have chocolate. They're just as fun!

How to throw a Gender Reveal Party on a Budget

After talking with a friend about Gender Reveal Parties, I mentioned to her that I basically threw ours together in 2 days. We weren't planning on having one last year, but then I thought- why not!?
I then realized I never made a post about it. (Something about having a baby, blah, blah, blah...)

Gender Reveal Party on a Budget

Thanks to party decor I already had, some printables others created and the Dollar Store, our Gender Reveal Party was all ready! We also didn't know what gender our kiddo was until less than a day before we revealed (our ultrasound was the day before the party)- so we didn't have to keep the secret long. We basically told everyone at/during the time of the Reveal Party.

First thing to do for a gender reveal party- make everything pink & blue.

Ring Pops, candles & baby pins from the Dollar Store.

Posterboard and paper from Dollar Store.

Our big Light Up Sign was ready to roll.
People were told to wear whichever color they thought the kiddo would be. Also everyone was told to write their name under which "team" they thought the kid would be.

The drink setup and where people cast their votes.
At the golden hour, we opened our reveal pull pinata that I finished off the night before:

After the big reveal- everyone had surprise cupcakes (also made the night before, shortly after finding out the gender ourselves). I used this tutorial from 2 Sisters 2 Cities when making the cupcakes. In theory, we could of just had this as the big reveal, but I really wasn't sure how they'd turn out, so I did the pinata as the main reveal.

The drinks/punches we made- Strawberry Lemonade soda and Tropical Rum for the pink side, and Blue Curacao with Coconut Wave soda for the blue side. (I made non-alcoholic versions for me and a few others who didn't drink).

I also made snacks for people to take home. I used treat bags and stamps from Stampin' Up!

I used various printables at the party from:

Aside from the fact that our pinata reveal kinda fell on our heads, it was a fun easy party. We also asked everyone to write down their name & address, so we could send birthday cards to them on their birthdays (as well as already have their addresses for thank you cards & Christmas cards).

It was a fun time, and didn't take much time or money to make it fun.

I hope this gives you some ideas if you're in the midst of planning a Gender Reveal Party of your own.
Have a great day!
