Subscription Box Review: March Ipsy Glam Bag

Welcome to another Subscription Box Review! Check out my previous Subscription box reviews here.
I know, I've been away for a while from the blogosphere. Life's just been very crazy, as things have picked up work and theater stuff- I know, excuses excuses. We are in the midst of auditions for Shrek (which hubs and I are directing) so it's been so crazy. But, I'm aiming to get back into the blogging world to keep me sane once things pick up in the theater world. lol
Now, on to the subscription box review.

Marcy Ipsy Glam Bag:
So this month's Ipsy (I know I"m late to share this) was themed "Floral Fantasy." I had some loves, some oks and some ehs.

I LOVE the shade of NYX Cosmetics butter lipstick I got. Reminds me a lot like the MaryKay Dusty Rose (which was my color for years).

I wore it paired with the Velvet 59 lipgloss I got from my January Ipsy bag to a friend's wedding last weekend.

Used the lipstick and gloss to my friend's wedding last week, among a few other Ipsy products. :)
I also liked the Pixi by Petra Mesmerizing Mineral Duo- great neutrals. I always need a good brown and tan- since that's my go-to eyeshadow color combo. I'm not a huge makeup person (I wear makeup only on major occasions, when I'm being photographed for something special, or on theater) so I'm all about the neutral colors.

The next item I got was Pur~lisse Beauty's delicate gentle soymilk cleanser and makeup remover. I used it mostly as a cleanser, but I'm sure it does the job as a makeup remover too.

Next, onto the other things I tried, but not sure how often I'll use them: Coolway's Glow Oil Treatment and Boo-Boo cover-up medium shade. I tried the boo-boo to cover up a big blemish I had on my forehead (but luckily my bangs cover most of it). It did it's job, but nothing that special- but then again, I don't have a lot of major boo-boos to cover up. I also tried a few drops of the glow oil on my hair for the wedding I went to- gave me some shine, but again, nothing earth shattering.

Overall, I got some good solid products in this month's glam bag. I was glad to get the eye shadow and lipstick the most, as well as the cleanser (I was in desperate need of a new cleanser).
Looking forward to next month's glam bag. Have you tried Ipsy? If so, what's your favorite item you've received?
Have a great day all!

Subscription Box Review: December Ipsy Glam Bag

Welcome to another Subscription Box Review! Check out my previous Subscription box reviews here.

December Ipsy Glam Bag:

This month's Ipsy Glam bag is themed "Thinking of You." Honestly- it was probably one of my least favorite bags- nothing really extremely excited me even when I saw the preview (except for one product, which I sadly didn't get in my bag- booo!) The bag itself wasn't anything special either. Not sure if the holidays had the Ipsy crew scrambling, but this was by far the least exciting glam bag I've gotten thus far.

Here's what came in My Glam Bag:

Honestly, I don't think I'll ever use this. I am a very low-maintenance hair product gal- I rarely blow-dry my hair in general. Most of the time I let my hair air-dry or put it in a clip till it drys. I'm sure its great for those that use hair styling product- but it really isn't the product for me.

It's a nice and functional brush. I'll certainly use it- I do like a good eye shadow application. First time I've gotten a brush in my bag, so I'm not complaining much about it.

I'll try it- not sure how often I'll use it, but my eyes could use some relaxation.

Not a bad lip balm- the flavor isn't anything special. Overall, doesn't wow me, but I'll use it.

This is probably the only think I was excited to get. I always am on the hunt for a good mascara- since when I do wear it with my contacts, I always struggle with getting one that doesn't irritate my eyes. We shall see how this one fares.

I personally was a little disappointed this month with my glam bag- when I saw the preview of products, I prayed I'd get the Mineral Eye Polish by Cailyn, but sadly I did not. ;(
Hopefully next month they will wow me a bit more.
Have a great day all!

Subscription Box Review: October Ipsy Glam Bag

Welcome to another Subscription Box Review! Check out my previous Subscription box reviews here.

October Ipsy Glam Bag:

This month's Ipsy was a mixed bag of items I ADORE and items I could care less about. Luckily, a good friend of mine got totally different things in her Ipsy bag, so we swapped 2 items for 2 different items. ;)

The bag this time is ADORABLE. I love the color and style. So cute!

I got a Nicole OPI gold (On a Gilt Trip) nail polish. It's a lovely gold color, and I've used OPI's nail polish before, so I'm excited to have gotten this.

This was what I was most excited to recieve in my glam bag- Skone Cosmetics' Tattooed Waterproof Eyeliner. It is like having a fine tipped marker as an eyeliner and it is super resistant- it stays on all day (and night if you don't take it off). lol- I accidentally fell asleep without taking off my makeup and that eyeliner was flawless and didn't budge the next morning! haha. I love this!

Next I got Indie Lee's Brightening Cleanser. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm looking forward to giving it a shot.

I got Ayres Body Butter Patagonia also in my bag. Now I'm not a huge body butter fan, but luckily a friend of mine is, so we swapped ipsy items.

Noyah's Deeply in Mauve was the last item I recieved in my ipsy bag. It's a little dark for my taste, so this item was also swapped with my friend (who loves darker colors!)

Overall it wasn't a bad bag. The eyeliner and the bag itself were the best part. Like I mentioned above, I swapped 2 items with a friend for her 2 items she didn't want. So in the end, we each got a great bag after our swaps. haha

These are the 2 items I swapped my Ayres body butter and Noyah lipstick for.

Starlook's Guilty Pleasure lipgloss and Mica Beauty Cosmetics Reluctence Mineral Eye Shadow.

I was so excited to get it and so far Ipsy has not disappointed me. Yay for cute new makeup!

Subscription Box Review: Ipsy's September Glam Bag

Welcome to a new monthly feature- Subscription Box Review! I plan on posting reviews of all the subscription package services I have started trying out (thanks to my hubs for ordering me a bunch to try for our Wedding Anniversary present!).

(So far I am continuing this subscription)
When I got my first Ipsy package, I already was super excited to get it- I had been following along online/facebook/instagram with their style gals, as well as chatting about it with a friend of mine who has been an avid subscriber of theirs. I was excited to open my hot pink padded envelope to discover some awesome products.

The one thing I adore about Ipsy as opposed to some other makeup subscription companies, is you get a cute little bag with it. September’s glam bag was shiny silver with silver studs- love it! It is perfect to change up the bags of makeup on the go or when traveling.

Now onto the other products in the package:
-       Avon Big & Daring Mascara (original price $9, on sale currently for $7): I just adore this mascara. I’ve always been a MaryKay girl (if I had to chose between MK and Avon) but this was a lovely mascara. It certain does what it says- makes your eyelashes BIG and daring. Lol. I used it a few times already, such as when I needed to do promo shots for the upcoming show I'm in.

Look at those lashes! Used it for my 1950s school girl look for the next show.

-       7 Free Pacifica Nail polish in Red Wine (original price $9)- I like the color. Haven’t used it yet, though I plan to dress up my toenails for fall with this dark cranberry color. It's very dark, but perfect for fall!

Be a…Bombshell Smooth Criminal powder (original price $12)- Honestly, I had no clue how to uses this when I got it, let alone what it was used for. I did find this great makeup tutorial on youtube by xxx where she uses it (among other products), so I might have to go out of my comfort zone and try it out next time I put makeup on with foundation (I'm not really a big foundation/makeup person. I love the more natural/on the go routine).

-       Cailyn Art Touch tinted Lip gloss in Basic Instinct (original price $19)- Nice simple lip gloss- the shade was a little light for my skin tone, but overall a good gloss over my usual Dusty Rose MaryKay lipstick.

-       Mitchell and Peach Luxury Hand cream (original price $17 euro, Roughly $21.50 US dollars for 60 ml bottle)- Loved the scent. I’m not a huge hand cream fan, but this smelled lovely. This is a travel version, so I'm not sure if the price is correct for that size, FYI. It is perfect to stick in your purse when you need a little love for your hands. ;)

Overall, it was a great first bag from Ipsy. Now I know others got a slightly different bag (2 of my castmates and my mom all got slightly different bags), so I find it interesting what the company personalizes, according to the quiz they have you take. ;)

I’m looking forward to seeing what I get in my next bag from them!
Have a great day!
